Professional Speaker | Psychotherapist | Human Behaviour & Communication
Meet Delaine Bennett.
“People make more sense when we understand what’s happening beneath the surface.”

Delaine Bennett has spent 20 years working with people through some of life’s most complicated and challenging moments. From the front lines of child protection to her work as a psychotherapist, she’s learned that there’s almost always more to human behaviour than what we see on the surface.
Why do we become defensive when someone challenges us? Why do conversations fall apart when emotions run high? Why is it sometimes so difficult to change, even when we genuinely want to?
These are the questions that drive her work.
A registered social worker, psychotherapist, and professional speaker based in Calgary, Alberta, Delaine helps people make sense of the science behind stress, emotions, communication, and relationships.
She explores what happens in our brains and bodies when we’re under pressure, how our nervous systems influence the way we respond to others, and why feeling heard, understood, and connected can make such a difference.
But Delaine isn’t interested in overwhelming people with psychological jargon or telling them everything they’re doing wrong.
Raised in a farming community and around the trades, she believes the most powerful conversations are often the most straightforward ones. With warmth, humour, and relatable examples, she brings complex psychological concepts into everyday life in ways that make people laugh, think, and recognize themselves in the conversation.
Her approach is rooted in something she’s witnessed throughout her career: people are often more willing to explore difficult things when they feel understood rather than judged.
That doesn’t mean avoiding uncomfortable conversations. It means understanding how to approach them in ways that keep people engaged, curious, and open to another perspective.
Through her developing Human Conditions for Change project, Delaine explores how our environments, relationships, and experiences influence our capacity to learn, connect, and grow.
Whether she’s speaking to corporate leaders, tradespeople, parents, coaches, or community organizations, her goal is the same: to help people understand themselves and each other a little differently.
Because when we change the way we understand people, we can change the way we respond to them.
